DIY Virtual Tours - required equipment

DIY (Self Service) Required Equipment

There are a few essential items of equipment required to use our DIY virtual tour solution.

 1. A Digital Camera:          camera

You will require a digital camera of 3 Mega pixels or higher. This will ensure good image quality and a professional looking visual tour

A digital camera with a lens thread is optional. This means that your camera can accommodate a wide angle lens.

2. A Tripod:

A tripod is required to mount your digital camera and panoramic rotator (see panoramic rotator below). A tripod is used to stabilize your camera during the shooting process. The tripod will also ensure that your camera stays 100% level. It is important that your camera is level during shooting, to ensure a panorama that can be stitched successfully.

3. Panoramic Rotator: (Included in our DIY Starter Kit)

A panoramic rotator is created by Visual Tours for your specific camera. Your digital camera is attached to the panoramic rotator and in turn is mounted onto a tripod. The panoramic rotator is a device that turns clockwise and stops at 20 degree intervals. Once the panoramic rotator stops, take a picture with the digital camera. When the rotator has stopped or “clicked” 18 times you have completed a full 360 degree panorama.
